What is Myofascial Release technique?

Our bodies are one uninterrupted web of tissue. The strands go three dimensionally in all directions. If you magnify each strand, you see that in healthy tissue it is filled with fluid and in tight tissue the fluid is blocked, like a hose that is plugged. MFR releases the tight tissue so that that fluid can flow. In order for health and life to be sustained we need nutrients, oxygen, water and electricity to flow through those microtubules, as your tissue releases, it can now open to receive those elements that it needs to function, returning the tissues to health.

Myofascial Release is a very wholistic approach. Someone might come for help  for their back pain and in the course of a their treatment experience relief of their headaches and/or tendency toward depression as well. Each session is completely unique, and as the therapist, I show up and remain present to what arises, the tissues guides the direction of healing for each session.

This method of bodywork helps to facilitate your own body’s ability to heal and balance, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is a way to find freedom in body, mind and spirit, a way to relieve pain, tightness or dysfunction of any kind. It provides each individual’s unique pathway from the darkness out into the light. When a person is tight they feel very heavy, the releases help them to feel light again.

During part of a myofascial release session, you will learn how to find relief using simple tools of self treatment.  It is important to have a choice for something you can do for yourself to find relief!

What is Myofascial Release?

It is a path toward healing & thriving in a whole, healthy, flowing and present body, mind and spirit.  It is letting go of whatever is in the way of overflowing ABUNDANCE! It is finding and experiencing true freedom, love, acceptance, joy and peace!  It is functioning in full CONNECTION with yourself and those who are important to you.  It is fully knowing your choices and having the COURAGE to move in the direction of a fully vibrant life in every aspect.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a powerful connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption.  Trauma, posture or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures (bones) and/or organs.  This can cause pain and/or dysfunction on all levels—physically, mentally and emotionally.

How does Myofascial Release work?

Our bodies are one uninterrupted web of fascial (connective) tissue. Its strands go three dimensionally in all directions.   If you magnify each strand, you see that they are filled with fluid in healthy tissue. In tight tissue the fluid is blocked—similar to  a plugged hose.  As you can imagine, tissue that is tight is also dehydrated.  If it is tight, blocked and dehydrated, it cannot function at its peak.  It is dormant.  In order for it to recover from its dysfunctional state, it needs help to soften and release what is tight so that the fluid which is filled with nutrients, oxygen and light electricity can perfuse the tissue again.  Then it will be able to thrive and function as it was meant to again!  This is the purpose of the Myofascial Release!

As a John Barnes trained Myofascial Release therapist, my role is to help you discover the cause of your pain or dysfunction and then facilitate the changes your body needs to be healthy and thrive again!  The process involves your full participation as the recipient as well! Your role is to learn and embrace how to receive the treatment as well as do the self-treatment at home.
